30th November 2025 - Colerne Christmas Market & Light Switch-on

What a magical day it was in Colerne as the village came together for the annual Christmas Market and festive Light Switch-On.

The atmosphere was nothing short of enchanting, with the streets filled with snow, laughter, stalls, music and the joyful buzz of families and friends enjoying the start of the season.

The highlight, of course, was the big countdown and when the lights flicked on, the whole place sparkled.

Huge thanks to the amazing teams who put it all together. Their hard work made the day such a success, and it’s clear everyone left with a smile and a bit of Christmas spirit.

Welcome to the Club, pups!

July Giveaway Recap: Win a Roolo® Dog Toy!

Throughout July 2025, we ran a pawsome giveaway for one lucky dog lover to win a Roolo® Dog Toy, an enrichment favourite here at Barney’s Pet Supplies.
Barney is obsessed with his (not just because it involves food… although that helps!). The Roolo® is leaps and bounds ahead of the classic treat ball thanks to its clever self-propelling design and scent-release holes, making playtime wildly engaging.
Designed to stimulate both mind and body, just 15 minutes of Roolo® play delivers the same energy burn as an hour-long walk, perfect for rainy days or when summer heat makes long strolls a no-go.
Made from durable, dog-friendly rubber, it promotes slow feeding, supports digestion and busts boredom beautifully.
A huge congratulations to our winner Sarah Foster from Talia’s Tails, whose lucky pack of four dogs will be sharing the fun. We hope they love it as much as Barney does!

Corsham Fun Day & Dog Show Recap

On 2nd August, Barney’s Pet Supplies had the pleasure of joining the Corsham Fun Day & Dog Show with our stall, and luckily, the sunshine held out! The atmosphere was buzzing, tails were wagging, and smiles were everywhere.
The event proudly supported the Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.
We ran a treat-filled competition both at the event and online:
Guess the number of dog treats in the jar.
 The magic number? 227 treats!
With a clever guess of 256, our winner was Maureen Talbot – congratulations! We hope her lucky pups have a blast tasting the different varieties.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined in the fun—we loved meeting you all!
It was a shame that Barney couldn't attend this time, as he was feeling under the weather.
A separate donation was also made to the Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance charity on 9th August 2025.

Senior Dogs Deserve Snouts Too: Gentle Treats for Golden Years

As our beloved pups enter their senior years, their treat preferences change—just like their energy levels, nutritional needs, and even their teeth. But that doesn’t mean they have to miss out on flavourful rewards. One of the most underrated heroes for older dogs? Puffed pig snouts.

🐽 What Makes Puffed Pig Snouts Senior-Friendly?

These natural, air-dried treats are gently puffed during processing, making them:

  • Soft and airy, easy to bite and chew—even for dogs missing a few teeth.
  • Lower in fat than standard pig snouts, reducing strain on sensitive stomachs.
  • Odour-light and non-greasy, keeping treat time pleasant for everyone.
  • Satisfying without being tough, striking the perfect balance between crunch and comfort.

Plus, they’re 100% natural—just how we like things here at Barney’s Pet Supplies.

 🧡 Why Gentle Chews Matter

 Older dogs may struggle with:

  • Dental sensitivity or missing teeth
  • Digestive issues linked to high-fat or artificial treats
  • Reduced appetite or picky eating habits

By offering treats like puffed snouts, you’re giving them joy and care in every bite.

How to Keep Your Pet Active and Happy

Exercise and playtime are vital for your pet's well-being, helping to prevent obesity, reduce stress, and improve behaviour. Dogs benefit from daily walks, interactive toys, and games that challenge their minds, while cats enjoy climbing structures and puzzle feeders. At Barney's Pet Supplies, we believe that an active pet is a happy pet, which is why we offer a fantastic range of toys and enrichment products. Even small pets like rabbits and guinea pigs need exercise through tunnels, playpens, and chew toys. Keeping your pet engaged strengthens your bond and ensures they stay mentally and physically stimulated every day.

Essential Grooming Tips for a Healthy Pet

Keeping your pet well groomed is about more than just looking good, it’s crucial for their health and comfort. Regular brushing helps prevent matting and reduces shedding, while nail trimming prevents painful overgrowth. At Barney’s Pet Supplies, we offer a wide selection of grooming products, from gentle shampoos to ergonomic brushes suited for different coat types. Whether you have a short-haired cat or a long-coated dog, having the right tools makes all the difference. Bathing should be done as needed, using pet-friendly products to maintain a healthy skin barrier. If your pet dislikes grooming, positive reinforcement and treats can help make the experience more enjoyable for both of you.
